Concours "Project Evanescence" – Bologna Academy of Fine Arts

Alain Leporati – King Manichini become works of art.

The prestigious grand hall of the Bologna Academy of Fine Arts hosted the presentation of the works by nine students, selected by an expert jury for the Evanescence Project, a special collaboration between the Academy and Alain Leporati awarding the 3 winning talents.

The project, named after the collection of mannequins by the same name, is curated by Prof. Luca Panaro – art critic and fine arts professor.

Alain Leporati offers the opportunity to the students to transform the Evanescence Collection mannequins with full creative freedom.  The mannequins themselves represent a sensual and ethereal femininity, they are removed from their original function of being adorned with couture clothing and are transformed into works of art.

The students initially propose their ideas as drawings in the first phase.  In the second phase they proceed with the realization of their works using an array of artistic mediums such as painting, photography, readymades, video, installation and performance art.  

The master’s students selected and exhibited are:  Matilde Baviglio, Costanza Battaglini, Lavinia Bolognini, Edoardo Cirialli, Ludovica Lotito, Gabriella Presutto, Camilla Riscassi, Lucrezia Roncadi, Golzar Sanganian e Agata Torelli.

The “Evanescence Project” was initiated in 2017 involving photography master’s students from Milan’s Brera Academy of Fine Arts, followed with the current edition involving the students from the Bologna Academy of Fine Arts.

The Project will continue with an exhibit and vernissage dedicated to the students in Milan.
